Callie Rivers’ career as a high school volleyball player would make her a Hall of Famer in anyone’s book. During her four years at WPHS, she earned award after award, leading her team to State Championships in 2004, 2005, and 2006.
Callie holds three WPHS records, two 2nd’s and one 3rd. She is the WPHS All-Time Career Leader in kills (1394), attempts (2356), and blocks (184.5). In addition, she is WPHS All-Time Career 2nd in digs (542) and aces (215) and All-Time Career 3rd in hitting percentage (.460). She is the first athlete in the history of Winter Park High School to have her jersey retired.
In Orange County, Callie honors are numerous. She was named Orlando Sentinel Central Florida Player of the Year in 2004, 2005, and 2006. Those same years, she was All-Orange County 1st Team and All-Metro Conference 1st Team.
At the state level the accolades for Callie continue. She was voted Dairy Farmer 6A Player of the Year in 2004 and 2005, Sprint DSL Scholar Athlete in 2005, and Gatorade Player of the Year for Florida. Callie was named to the All- State 1st Team from 2004 to 2006 and the Team Florida High Performance Team, and was an FACA Senior All-Star Selection in 2006.
Callie’s performances on the court brought national recognition to WPHS as well. She was a High School All-American from 2004 to 2006, and during her senior year she was a finalist for National Player of the Year, a Volleyball Magazine “Fab 50” selection, the Prep Volleyball number 12 recruit in the nation, an AAU Volleyball All-American, and named to USA Volleyball’s National High Performance Team on which she was elected MVP.
Currently, Callie plays with the nationally ranked Florida Gators.
